The hardest thing (by far) to achieve online is engagement. It’s one thing to show up in an ideal customer’s feed, but a whole other thing to get that ideal customer to engage with the content you put online.
Whenever possible, I recommend overcoming this by simply ASKING for engagement. But… for the ask to work, it has to be RELATABLE. Right now, it’s hard to deny that Coronavirus is dominating everything… and there likely isn’t a single person who cannot relate to it in some way.
Using the prompt, “If I knew then what I know now,” write about what the month of January would have looked like for you. What would you have made sure you did for fun? How would you have started to prepare your business for what was ahead?
Then, ask readers to comment about what they would have done in January if they had known what’s ahead. For the photo, post a representative picture, or steal the picture at right.
Post this to all of your social media channels and take note of the engagement you get in return. In the future, if you notice a drop in engagement, look back through your content and make sure you’re taken the time to ask for it… if not, be sure to use this strategy at least once a week (relatable post followed by ask for engagement).
