If you’re struggling to get traction, reach, or momentum, it’s tempting to think the problem is scale.
✖️Not enough followers.
✖️Not enough customers.
✖️Not enough people listening.
But more often than not, scale isn’t the issue.
Clarity is.
When messages don’t travel, it’s usually because they’re not clear enough, not because they’re not loud enough.
Take Patagonia. In 2011, they ran a now-famous Black Friday ad in The New York Times that said: “Don’t buy this jacket.” The message was unmistakable and counterintuitive. While everyone else was urging people to consume more, Patagonia explained why buying less mattered. That clarity didn’t just spark conversation, it helped launch their used-clothing program and ultimately increased sales.
The message worked because it challenged what people already believed and then showed them a new way forward.
We see this pattern everywhere with messages that stick.
Tony Robbins once said, “Knowledge is not power. Knowledge is only potential power. Action is power.” He starts with something familiar, knowledge is power, then reframes it in a way that feels both surprising and true.
Mel Robbins does the same when she says, “Time doesn’t heal all wounds. What you do with your time does.”
Different voices. Same structure. Yes, these people have big audiences now, but it didn’t start that way. It started with clarity 💡.
The formula is simple, write a sentence that says:
✅Here’s what you already know,
✅Here’s what I want you to know instead.
That’s it.
Before you post, pitch, present, publish (or even head into an important meeting), try using this formula. The clarity you gain from it will immediately stop you from blending in and help you cut through the noise.
Compelling messages don’t require massive audiences to spread, they scale themselves.
If you’re worried about reach, resist the urge to chase volume.
Focus on clarity first.
Scale will come. #brandmanagement #personalbranding #corporatebranding #clarity #scale #audiencegrowth
