One of the most common questions I hear from clients is, “Do I really have to show my face?”
The short answer is yes.
Why? Because the human face consistently outperforms logos, products, and generic visuals when it comes to building trust and making a lasting impression.
Marketing research is clear on this:
👤 Faces foster connection.
🤝 Faces build trust.
🧠 Faces are more memorable.
Just think about your favorite TV show. What’s the logo? Who’s the main character? Chances are you’re picturing the main character at this very moment.
Here’s a quick brand audit to consider:
- Is your profile picture a logo a person, or a team? If it’s a logo, try replacing it with a human face of either you, the CEO, or a team of people (whatever is most appropriate).
- Do your email subject lines come from a company name or an individual? Using a real name can make your emails feel more personal and increase open rates.
- Are you using your website and social media to highlight the real people behind your brand whenever you can?
A brand isn’t just about what you share, it’s about who’s behind it. It’s about ideas, perspective, and presence. Personal brands benefit from having a lot of this built in. Corporate brands can also gain an edge by showcasing the people and their ideas, perspective, and presence that bring the brand to life.
At the core of every powerful brand is a human connection.
If you want to grow and convert, remember the two things that matter most: trust and memorability. Faces BUILD both. Logos SUPPORT both.
