My daughter looked at me with big eyes and asked me, “Mommy, what if we made a booby trap to catch the ducks so we can pet them? They’re so cute…”
Obviously my daughter realized her conundrum. We were busy feeding the ducks and they were swimming over, but she wanted more… she wanted to pet the ducks. So how does this have to do with digital marketing?
Let’s imagine that the breadcrumbs my daughter was feeding the ducks was an ad or some type of free content (like this blog entry) that she was using to get the ducks to come closer to her. Then, let’s imagine that getting to pet the duck was the conversion she wanted. However, without the booby trap she suggested, she has no tool to keep the ducks close enough to her to eventually pet them.
Now, I would never let her pet the ducks let alone trap them, but I did have to admire her forward thinking. Truly– not bad for a toddler.
In my livestream below, I discuss the infrastructure of your website and teach you how to make sure that you have a system to keep your leads close, or as my daughter would say, “booby trap them.” I recommend starting with an email sign-up form in exchange for some kind of value, like a free guide.
After all, we’ve been talking a lot on this blog about engaging your customers so we can’t let them get away!
